Talent Development in Two Labs
In the consortium LLO Utrecht Region, education and industry work closely together: ROC Midden Nederland, University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, Utrecht University, Stedin, Bloemendal Bouw, Van Dorp Installatietechniek, ROM Utrecht Region, and the Utrecht Regional Technology Council.
The province of Utrecht aims to be climate neutral by 2050. Employers in the construction, installation, and infrastructure technology sectors are in urgent need of workers with the right expertise and skills to help achieve this goal. The labour market is tight. By offering tailored training and education to current employees, they can contribute more effectively to the energy and resource transition.
In the Transition Lab customised training programmes are being developed for ten employers, see projects.
In the Professional Development Lab educational institutions ensure they are well equipped to respond to the needs of employers, employees, and job seekers.
Both labs have received funding from the National Growth Fund programme Lifelong Learning Catalyst.
Connections between the two labs
- Every 6–8 weeks, consortium staff come together for knowledge-sharing sessions.
- They are developing a shared language, partly through attending four joint masterclasses on societal transitions and social innovations.
- They are working on a shared approach to tailored training, supporting lifelong development.
- The account managers appointed in the Professional Development Lab approach companies for projects in the Transition Lab and explore their specific needs. This has strengthened the collaboration chain supporting career switchers entering the technology sector.
